Blind Donkey Moonlights as Master Escape Artist at Farm Sanctuary

A blind rescue donkey named Waylon has become the ultimate troublemaker at his sanctuary by teaching himself to unlatch stalls, hosting unauthorized night parties, and even training his goat friend to do the same.

Meet Waylon Jennings: The Barn's Most Lovable Troublemaker

At Naughty Donkey Farm Sanctuary, one special resident has earned quite the reputation. Waylon Jennings, a blind donkey, has become the sanctuary's master escape artist and party planner.

From Scared Rescue to Mischief Maker

Waylon arrived at the sanctuary in 2018 as a frightened rescue. He was losing his vision due to untreated eye infections from his past. By the time he became fully blind, he had already formed a strong bond with his best friend and partner in crime - a Nigerian dwarf goat named Willie Nelson.

Freedom and Nighttime Adventures

During the day, all sanctuary animals roam freely around the property. At night, they sleep in stalls for their safety. All except Waylon. Because he gets stressed when confined, the sanctuary staff allows him full access to the secured barn at night.

This special privilege turned into quite the opportunity for mischief. Waylon taught himself to unlatch the stall doors, starting with his buddy Willie's. Soon enough, he began hosting unauthorized barn parties every night. These wild gatherings often involve snack raids and overturned hay feeders.

Outsmarting the Staff

When sanctuary staff tried to outsmart Waylon by adding carabiners to the latches, he still figured out how to open them. Not only that - he's now trying to teach Willie his escape artist skills. Willie is still learning, but with such a determined teacher, it might not be long before he masters the art of escape too.

Beyond Escape Artistry

When Waylon isn't organizing chaos in the barn, he keeps busy with other antics. He enjoys doing "donkey zoomies" around the pasture, getting his head stuck in furniture, and finding new ways to cause trouble.

Loved Just As He Is

Despite all the mischief, the sanctuary's founder wouldn't change a thing about Waylon. According to them, sanctuary life would be much less fun without his spirited personality and clever antics. Waylon is loved exactly as he is - a blind donkey with a talent for trouble and bringing joy to everyone around him.
