Meet Felix and Bolt: The Award-Winning Railway Cats of Huddersfield
From Mousetraps to Fame: Felix's Journey
Felix began her career as a tiny kitten at Huddersfield Railway Station. Her main job? Chase away mice and pigeons from the platforms. After 4 years of hard work, she moved up in the company and earned the title of senior pest controller.
As time went on, Felix became quite famous. Kate Moore wrote a book about her called "Felix the Railway Cat." This book raised over £100,000 for charity! Felix even got a special Shooting Stars award for her good work. Recently, she reached another milestone - having a train named after her.
A Feline Partnership Forms
Felix didn't want to work alone forever. In 2018, she got a partner named Bolt. Together, they make the perfect team. Both cats wear hi-vis jackets and name badges when they feel like dressing up for work. They walk around the station like they own the place. Passengers love getting purrs and head bumps from these furry workers.
The duo became so popular that a second book came out in the Felix series. This time, it includes stories about Bolt too.
More Than Just Cute Faces
Don't let their fluffy looks fool you. Felix and Bolt are serious about their jobs. They work hard to keep the platform safe and clean for all the people who travel through the station.
The station staff takes great care of these special employees. Felix and Bolt always have plenty of food, get regular grooming, and seem very happy with their railway life.
