Lost Yorkie Found at Fraternity House 300 Miles from Home After 5 Years
Missing Yorkie's 300-Mile Journey Ends at College Fraternity
A small Yorkie that went missing during Hurricane Laura has been found living at a fraternity house over 300 miles from his home. The little dog disappeared five years ago when the hurricane struck Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he lived with his owners, Debbie and Joseph.
A Long Search Ends
Debbie and Joseph searched for their beloved pet for months. As time passed, they had to accept that their best friend was gone. That changed when the president of Kappa Sigma at the University of Southern Mississippi spotted a little dog wearing a red shirt sitting on their porch.
When no one in the area claimed the dog, the fraternity president brought him inside. The brothers named him Benjie and introduced him at their chapter meeting.
A Surprising Discovery
The next day, one of the fraternity members took Benjie to a vet for a microchip scan. The scan revealed that Benjie was actually Kingston, and he had a family waiting for him back in Louisiana.
The fraternity contacted Debbie right away. They promised to care for Kingston until she could make the four-hour drive to pick him up.
Kingston's College Experience
For the next week, Kingston lived like a true college student. He attended intramural softball games and hung out at the backyard volleyball court. The brothers even made him an official honorary member of Kappa Sigma.
No one knows for sure why Kingston showed up at the fraternity house. Maybe he was there for the parties, or perhaps he wanted to get a degree. Whatever the reason, it led him exactly where he needed to be.
Reunion at Last
After five long years and a brief college career, Kingston is back where he belongs. Debbie says she is deeply thankful for the kindness shown by the members of Kappa Sigma.
She only wishes that Joseph, who passed away in 2022, could have been there to witness the reunion. Still, Debbie believes that Joseph had a hand in making this miracle happen from beyond.
The story of Kingston's journey and eventual homecoming reminds us that sometimes, against all odds, lost pets find their way back to the people who love them most.
