How a Tiny Chicken Got Back on His Feet

Nubz the rescue chicken has overcome big challenges with the help of some very small boots. When this little Serama chicken was adopted by his human, Meech, he had already lost his toes. The likely cause was a severe case of scaly leg mites.

Finding His Footing

At first, Nubz hardly moved around at all. Walking with his injured feet was just too hard. But everything changed when Meech had a clever idea. She had an extra pair of small dog boots and decided to try them on Nubz's feet.

The change was amazing! Nubz seemed to understand these boots were made for walking. He started moving more, and though it took about a week to adjust, soon he was walking around the chicken yard with all his feathered friends.

Fashion Forward Fowl

After getting approval from a vet, Meech decided to expand Nubz's footwear collection. Today, this fashionable chicken owns more than 30 different pairs of boots! His collection even includes a custom bedazzled pair that would look right at home on a fashion runway.

One in 10,000

Nubz stands out in more ways than just his stylish boots. This special chicken has characteristics of both a hen and a rooster - a rare condition that only happens in about one out of every 10,000 chickens.

Facing New Challenges

Life hasn't always been easy for Nubz. He suffers from a degenerative disc disorder that recently sent him to a specialty animal hospital. During his recovery, he temporarily traded his boots for a wheelchair. Now, Nubz is attending physical therapy sessions over the next month to help him get back to strutting around the chicken yard.

Through all these challenges, one thing remains clear - Nubz is happy just being himself. This little chicken with stylish boots shows that sometimes all you need is the right support to overcome life's obstacles.
